Acerca del evento
John Binder, organized crime historian and author of The Chicago Outfit and Al Capone’s Beer Wars, is the guide on the “There Goes the Neighbor Hood” tour of gangster history in Oak Park and River Forest. This exterior tour visits 13 houses which were once owned by major Chicago hoodlums, including Tony Accardo, Paul Ricca, Sam Giancana, “Tough Tony” Capezio, and “Machine Gun” Jack McGurn. John will discuss the former owners’ careers, the family’s time there, the interesting features of each home (10 of which he has been in), including secret tunnels and hidden rooms, and answer questions.
The tour is a deep immersion into the history of organized crime in Chicago from Prohibition until the 1990s, focusing on the lives and careers of many of Chicago’s most famous gangsters. It is by luxury bus and no walking is required.
