There’s a moment every summer when Chicago stops trying… and just becomes Chicago.
:👉 The weather hits. The city wakes up. And suddenly staying home feels like a bad decision.
👉 This is that moment.
The Chicago Blues Festival is back June 4–7, and if you’ve never done it or haven’t in a while this is your year.
👉 It’s about that feeling when everything lines up and you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.

🚆 It Starts the Same Way Every Time
You leave Berwyn or any stop along the BNSF without overthinking it.
No “where are we parking.”No “is this worth the hassle.”
You just get on the train.
Twenty minutes later give or take depending on your location, you’re stepping out into downtown and the city already feels different.
Music in the air. People everywhere. Summer officially started.
🎤 Thursday Night — The Warm-Up (June 4)
📍 Ramova Theatre 3520 S Halsted St Chicago
🕖 Evening kickoff (around 7:00 PM)
If you want the version that feels a little more real, a little less crowded, this is it.

\👉 John Primer takes the stage 7:15-8:30, one of the last true links to the original Chicago blues sound.
👉 Willie Clayton brings that deep soul-blues energy that fills a room fast.
It’s not the biggest night. 8:45-10:15
👉 That’s exactly why it’s good.
🎶 Friday — When It Opens Up (June 5)
📍 Millennium Park – Jay Pritzker Pavilion
🕛 Music starts around noon
This is where it starts to feel like a festival.
You don’t rush it. You don’t try to catch everything.
You wander. Catch a set. Grab a drink. Move to another stage.
By early evening, things tighten up.

Somewhere between bouncing stages and sitting on the lawn, you realize you’ve been there for hours.
🔥 Sunday — The Close (June 7)
📍 Millennium Park
🎤 Afternoon sets → evening finale
Sunday feels different. Slower. Fuller. Like everyone knows it’s the last shot.
You show up a little earlier. Catch a few sets.
👉 The Women in Blues performances build through the afternoon—strong, powerful, and easily one of the best parts of the weekend.
Then it all comes together.
👉 Taj Mahal & The Phantom Blues Band close it out around 6:30 PM.
He doesn’t just play blues.
He carries it.
Decades of it.
👉 And somehow it still feels fresh when it hits the park.
