🌮 Nothing To Do This Weekend? Take The BNSF To Aurora’s Massive Food Truck Fest

Some weekends are for mowing the lawn and pretending you’ll “catch up on stuff.”

This weekend? Forget that.
More than 30 food trucks are rolling into downtown Aurora for the city’s Spring Food Truck Festival on Friday, May 15 from 5PM–9PM and honestly, this is exactly the kind of random little adventure people say they want to do more often.
The best part?
You don’t even need to drive.
Hop on the BNSF Railway Line from Cicero, Berwyn, Brookfield, Riverside, La Grange, or anywhere along the line, and make a night out of it.
Aurora’s downtown station drops you right near the action.
🌆 What’s Happening?
The festival takes over Benton Street between River Street and Broadway in downtown Aurora. Expect:
30+ food trucks
Complimentary Live music and DJs
Family activities
Bubble shows
Complimentary Face painting
Balloon artists
Huge crowds
Zero admission fee
Basically: summer energy just arrived early.
đźš‚ Why The BNSF Ride Makes This Better
There’s something weirdly satisfying about taking the train to a food festival.
No parking headaches. No sitting in traffic on I-88 wondering why you left the house. Just grab a seat, scroll your phone for 45 minutes, and suddenly you’re in another downtown with tacos in your hand.
Aurora’s downtown has quietly become one of the coolest suburban districts in the western suburbs, with riverwalk views, breweries, old industrial architecture, murals, live music spots, and a surprisingly good food scene.
This isn’t just “go eat at a parking lot festival.”
It’s:
dinner,
drinks,
wandering downtown,
maybe stopping somewhere after,
and pretending you’re more spontaneous than you usually are.
🌮 Food Trucks Expected At The Festival
According to the City of Aurora and Patch, some of the featured vendors include:
Ricobene’s
Cousins Maine Lobster
Tiki Terrace Hawaiian
Yum Dum
Casita Boricua
The Happy Lobster
Royal Blue BBQ
Wild Fries
Hippie Gourmet Grilled Cheese
Spoon Burger
Taste Greek Street Food
Saavedra Tacos
TamalesPlus
Burger Xpress
Nick’s Pizza Truck
…and many more.
Honestly, the strategy here is simple:
Show up hungry.
Make terrible financial decisions.
Eat from at least three trucks.
Pretend calories don’t count because you “walked around.”
🍺 Make A Full Night Of It
Downtown Aurora has become a legit destination.
You can easily turn this into:
food truck hopping,
brewery stops,
rooftop drinks,
riverwalk wandering,
dessert,
and a late train ride home.
And if you’ve never explored Aurora before, this is one of the easiest reasons to finally do it.
🚆 How To Get There From Berwyn And Beyond
Take the BNSF Railway Line westbound toward Aurora.
Popular nearby stops include:
Berwyn
Brookfield
Riverside
La Grange
Downers Grove
Exit at the Aurora station and walk toward downtown Benton Street.
Easy.
