🏃‍♂️Corrida del Mariachi 5K Returns to Berwyn on August 15: One of Chicagoland's Most Unique Summer Races

If you're looking for more than just another 5K, the Corrida del Mariachi 5K is one of the most unique races you'll find anywhere in Illinois.

Returning on Saturday, August 15, 2026, this annual event transforms Berwyn into a celebration of fitness, culture, music, food, and community. Now celebrating its 7th anniversary, the North Berwyn Park District's signature race has grown into one of the area's most anticipated summer traditions and with the event selling out in previous years, runners are encouraged to register early.

The entire event lasts approximately five hours and includes an all-day celebration following the race.

🎺 What Makes the Corrida Different?

The Corrida del Mariachi is designed as a celebration from start to finish.

Along the course you'll experience:

• Live mariachi bands

• Traditional folkloric dancers

• DJs throughout the route

• Thousands of cheering spectators

• Festively decorated neighborhoods

• A flat, fast course through Berwyn

The event is also the only CARA-certified 5K that runs through the City of Berwyn, making it attractive for both competitive runners and first-time participants.

The famous Corrida After Party includes:

Registration Includes

Every registered participant receives:

Chip-Timed Registration

• Technical race shirt

• Official race bib

• Timing chip

• Annual collectible finisher medal

Untimed Registration

Participants receive everything above except the timing chip, with a cotton race shirt instead of the technical shirt.

Top finishers receive more than just bragging rights.

• Authentic Mariachi sombreros for first-place overall male and female winners

• First-place medals for each age division

• Second and third-place medals for overall and age-group winners

Every participant also earns the event's collectible annual finisher medal.

Hours:10:00 AM – 7:00 PM each day

Bring:

• Photo ID

• Registration confirmation

No race-day packet pickup will be available.

Parking

Recommended parking includes:

• Joseph C. Vallez Activity Center

• Vacin Fairway

• Morton West High School

Street parking around the course will be limited.

Road Closures

Drivers should expect temporary closures including portions of:

• 16th Street

• East Avenue

• Cermak Road

• Riverside Drive

• Home Avenue

• Clinton Avenue

Closures begin Friday evening and continue until approximately noon on race day. Plan ahead if traveling through Berwyn that morning.

Good to Know

• Strollers are welcome (please line up near the back)

• No pets (except service animals)

• No bicycles

• No skateboards

• No roller skates

• Open to all ages

• Special accommodations are available by contacting the Park District in advance.
