🎵 Thursday Night Out JULY 2 – Downtown Oak Park Live Music

One of the best summer traditions in the western suburbs returns Thursday night. Downtown Oak Park comes alive with live music, outdoor dining, shopping, patio cocktails, family activities, and street entertainment. It's the perfect way to kick off the holiday weekend before heading to fireworks or FitzGerald's later in the evening.
FitzGerald's American Music Festival — Night One: The Heavy Heavy

The 43rd American Music Festival at FitzGerald's kicks off Thursday.
Night one features The Heavy Heavy a UK-born psychedelic folk-rock act with a sound that's been called the heir to Fleetwood Mac and early Laurel Canyon. Four nights of roots, rock and soul running July 2–5. Tickets at fitzgeraldsnightclub.com.
🎵 FRIDAY, JULY 3 FIREWORKS & CELEBRATIONS
Fireworks in La Grange
Waiola Park, 500 S. Waiola Ave., La Grange | 9:30 PM | FREE
Friday night kicks off the fireworks season for the area. Gather at Waiola Park to watch fireworks launched from La Grange Country Club at 9:00 PM on July 3rd.
A classic suburban fireworks experience, open sky, easy parking, no crowds compared to what comes tomorrow. Perfect for families who want a Thursday night warmup before the full holiday weekend.
Berwyn Independence Day Fireworks — Morton West High School
2400 S Home Ave, Berwyn | Doors 8 PM, Fireworks 9 PM | FREE
The City of Berwyn's annual Independence Day Fireworks Display takes place at Morton West High School's football field. Doors open at 8 PM with fireworks at 9 PM, featuring special performances by the Morton West High School Band and the Morton West Cheerleaders. Over 100 student performers.
Sponsored by Berwyn philanthropist Tom Benson, owner of the World's Largest Laundromat.
Enter through the Harlem Avenue main stadium entrance. Walk or bike strongly encouraged, parking enforcement is active. No outside beverages, no pets inside the stadium.
Taste of Oak Brook — The Crown Jewel
Sports Core Fields, 700 Oak Brook Rd, Oak Brook | Gates 2 PM | FREE Admission
The biggest fireworks event in the western suburbs. This year it's been elevated in honor of America's 250th anniversary: gates open at 2 PM, Whiskey Friends (The Morgan Wallen Experience) performs 4–6 PM, Village presentations 6–7:30 PM, Sixteen Candles (iconic '80s tribute band) 7:30–9 PM, drone show at 9:30 PM, and an incredible 25-minute fireworks spectacular immediately after.
Last year's event drew nearly 40,000 guests. Food on site from Fogo de Chão, Labriola, COA, Fat Rosie's, STK Steakhouse, Hell's Barbeque, and the Alter Brewing Beer Garden. Free to attend, bring lawn chairs, no umbrellas permitted. Parking is paid and sells out: book at oak-brook.org.
FitzGerald's American Music Festival — Night Two: Spin Doctors

Friday at the American Music Festival brings the Spin Doctors to FitzGerald's. Two Princes. Little Miss Can't Be Wrong.
If you were alive in the '90s, you know exactly what this means and there's a version of Friday July 4th evening that ends with you singing along on Roosevelt Road with a Babygold beer in your hand and the Pavilion patio packed. Tickets at fitzgeraldsnightclub.com.
🇺🇸 Saturday, JULY 4 — America's 250th Birthday
A massive day. Multiple tracks across multiple communities. Run as many as you can.
Brookfield Farmers Market
8820 Brookfield Ave, Brookfield | 8 AM–1 PM | FREE
Start the morning right before the parades begin. The Brookfield Farmers Market now in its 19th season runs every Saturday at Village Hall. Fresh produce, local makers, and an unhurried Saturday morning that gives you fuel before the day kicks into gear.
Elmwood Park 4th of July Parade & Celebration
Start: 78th & Fullerton Ave, Elmwood Park | Parade 9 AM | Celebration 6 PM–10 PM | FREE
Elmwood Park gets the morning started earliest.
The village's Fourth of July parade starts at 9 AM at 78th and Fullerton Avenues, ending in the Circle at Village Hall.
Then the evening celebration at Elmwood Park High School (8201 W. Fullerton Ave.) opens at 6 PM, with The Class of '68 performing live from 7:15 to 9:15 PM, and fireworks beginning at 9:00 PM. A full morning-to-night 4th of July in one community, one of the most complete celebrations in the area.
Riverside Independence Day Parade
Start: Big Ball Park, Riverside | 10 AM | FREE
Riverside's annual Independence Day Parade kicks off from Big Ball Park and travels down Longcommon Road before concluding at Guthrie Park.
Note that Big Ball Park will serve as a designated quiet zone during the parade if you're watching from there, help maintain a calm and low-noise environment for all attendees.
A warm, community-centered parade through one of the most beautifully designed villages in the Midwest. Ten minutes from Berwyn.
Brookfield 4th of July Parade & Party in the Park
Start: Grand Blvd & Garfield Ave, Brookfield | Parade 10 AM | Party in the Park Noon–5 PM | FREE
The Brookfield Fourth of July Parade begins at 10 AM from the intersection of Grand Boulevard and Garfield Avenue.
New in 2026: the first block of the parade route from Garfield Avenue to Jackson Avenue will be a quiet zone, the first time Brookfield has introduced this accessibility feature.
After the parade, Kiwanis Park (8820 Brookfield Ave.) hosts Party in the Park until 5 PM with food, beverages, live music at the bandshell, and a new 8-team bags tournament starting at 1 PM. Sign up your two-person team onsite. A genuinely full day in Brookfield.
Oak Park 4th of July Parade
Start: Ridgeland Ave & Adams St (Longfellow Park), Oak Park | 10 AM | FREE
The Oak Park Independence Day Parade steps off at 10 AM from Longfellow Park at Ridgeland Avenue and Adams Street, marching north on Ridgeland to Augusta Street, turning east to disperse near Whittier Elementary School at Harvey Avenue.
Oak Park's parade is one of the most genuinely community-spirited in the western suburbs. Local organizations, street performers, pet lovers, and marching bands all moving together through a neighborhood that treats this day with real intention. Find a spot along Ridgeland or Augusta and bring something to sit on.
Westchester 4th of July Parade & Community Celebration
Start: IHM High School (Mayfair & Dorchester), Westchester | July 4 | FREE
Westchester's beloved annual 4th of July Parade is a community tradition featuring floats, marching bands, civic organizations, and local businesses.
Following the parade route, festivities wrap up at the Westchester Park District Community Park on Bond Street (10201 Bond St.), where attendees can enjoy light refreshments and a free swim for residents.
A smaller, more intimate parade experience that showcases exactly what the near west suburbs do best on this day.
North Riverside July 4th Celebration — Parade, Music & Fireworks
Start: 9th Ave & 26th St, North Riverside | Parade 10 AM | Evening Celebration 6–9 PM | FREE
North Riverside delivers a full day for America's 250th. The Independence Day Parade begins at 9th Avenue and 26th Street, traveling to Veterans Park at 10 AM.
Then the evening celebration runs 6 to 9 PM at Village Commons with food vendors, games, and live music by Maggie Speaks' Talk of the Town Big Band.
The fireworks finale is presented courtesy of Riverside Golf Club. A complete morning-through-night July 4th in a community right on Berwyn's doorstep.
FitzGerald's American Music Festival — Night Three: Dave Alvin, Jimmie Dale Gilmore & The Guilty Ones

Saturday at the American Music Festival features Dave Alvin and Jimmie Dale Gilmore and The Guilty Ones. Dave Alvin is a roots rock legend founding member of The Blasters, Grammy winner, poet of the American road. Jimmie Dale Gilmore is Texas country royalty.
Together on the FitzGerald's stage while America celebrates its 250th about as good as live music gets in the western suburbs in 2026.

FitzGerald's American Music Festival — Night Four: Neal Francis

The American Music Festival closes Sunday with Neal Francis the Chicago-born keys-and-soul prodigy who blends New Orleans R&B, classic rock, and gospel into something that sounds like a lost 1970s masterpiece.
