For more than four decades, this iconic Chicago tradition has brought together the city's incredible food scene, live music, local chefs, family activities, and hundreds of thousands of visitors in the heart of downtown.

How Much Does Food Cost?
Admission is free.
Food is purchased individually.
Most tasting portions range approximately:
Small tastes: $5–8
Entrées: $10–18
Desserts: $5–8
Drinks vary by vendor.
A couple can easily enjoy several tastings for around $40–60, while families can spend as much or as little as they choose.
Cash or Credit?
One important change many visitors don't realize:
Food vendors are credit/debit card only.
Bring a card or mobile payment.
Cash is generally not accepted by festival food vendors.

Getting There from the West Suburbs
One of the easiest ways to get to Taste of Chicago is by taking the Metra BNSF Line from communities like Berwyn, Cicero, Brookfield, Riverside, La Grange, Western Springs, Hinsdale, Downers Grove, and Naperville.
The train drops you at Union Station, and from there it's about a 20-minute walk (roughly one mile) to Grant Park. It's an easy, scenic stroll through downtown that lets you skip traffic, expensive parking, and the hassle of driving into the city. For many west suburban residents, the BNSF is the most convenient and stress-free way to enjoy a full day at Taste of Chicago.
A Little History
Taste of Chicago began in 1980, when then-Mayor Jane Byrne approved a one-day food festival on Michigan Avenue.
Organizers hoped for about 100,000 attendees.
Instead, more than 250,000 people showed up.
The overwhelming success led to the event moving to Grant Park the following year, where it has grown into one of the country's most recognizable food festivals and one of Chicago's signature summer traditions.
